Hiya, as I'm writing this it's currently the 29th of January and I'm preparing for my first shoot this year for my final project, very excited! The shoot is on the 3rd of Feb so I have a bit of time yet. But I wanted to document the whole process from start to finish. And show the behind the scenes of a fashion photoshoot.
Mood Board & Plan:
For this shoot our theme is pink which i'm very excited for as its my favourite colour! I let the girls know before hand what the theme is so that they can wear/bring some clothes and accessories of their own if they like. But I also provide some clothes that I get from local charity shops, I was very lucky and managed to find some super fun, vibrant pieces for this shoot.
Workshop in Preparation:
A couple of days before the shoot I hosted a workshop for the girls. I printed out some mannequin templates and we spent the evening designing clothes and talking about what clothes they like to wear. We talked about this at the beginning of the project but that was a few months ago now so wanted to see if their answers varied in any way.
I'm planning for the next workshop to possibly make some of the clothes they designed. Luckily I have a sewing machine from when I was younger ᵕ̈
Also would love to have some local hairstylists and makeup artists join us for workshops/shoots. If you're interested or know anyone please don't hesitate to message!
The Shoot Itself:
Its a few days after the shoot now as i'm writing this and it was so fun getting back into photographing the girls. During the shoot it was so unbelievably windy and the girls were getting cold so we weren't out for long. The light was beautiful though and we played around with that, harsh shadows and also flowers as props. It was fun but unfortunately just freezing. Here is one of my favourite images we took.
In terms of editing, if you're interested, I cropped the image into a 1:1 ratio and then made the shadow hue slightly purple to compliment the pink clothing.
Reflection:
I love every shoot we do and always have so much fun with the girls. The images we made are good but I definitely think we can work harder at making them more high fashion and editorial.
Thanks for reading! love always,
Lily Skye x
