"Threads of Rural Innocence"
ongoing project

‘Threads of Rural Innocence’ explores the experiences and opinions of young people growing up in the Highlands through fashion photography. Raised there herself, Lily understands the challenges of growing up in a place that is socially and economically disadvantaged. Through her project, she aims to give voice to the young people who navigate these challenges daily.

Balintore is located on the northeast coast of the Highlands and is within the top 10% of deprived areas in Scotland. The Highlands overall has been labelled a “demographic time bomb” with 47% of young people between the ages of 16-29 planning on leaving in the next five years.
